Why choose a Gynecologic Oncologist?

Gynecologic Oncology is a medical subspecialty focused on diagnosing and treating cancers of the female reproductive system, including cancers of the cervix, uterus, ovaries, vagina, and vulva. A gynecologic oncologist is a physician with specialized training in surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy for these cancers, acting as the leader of a patient's multidisciplinary care team. After medical school, they complete a 4 year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, followed by a 3 to 4 year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. Gynecologic Oncologists offer an integrated, patient-centered approach, working collaboratively with other specialists to create customized treatment plans and provide comprehensive support throughout a patient's cancer journey.

According to ACOG and SGO guidelines, if you have a suspected gynecologic cancer—such as a concerning ovarian mass—it’s vital to be evaluated and operated on by a gynecologic oncologist. This specialist care is associated with better survival outcomes.

Our Surgical Expertise

Surgeries for gynecologic cancers should always be performed by a specialist like us. Evidence shows that surgeries carried out by gynecologic oncologists can increase survival rates by as much as 50% compared to those performed by less experienced surgeons. With the support of advanced technology such as the da Vinci Surgical System, we are able to perform world-class, minimally invasive gynecologic cancer surgeries.

Improved Outcomes: Patients with all types of gynecologic cancer experience better results when their treatment is guided by a gynecologic oncologist.
