Gynecologic Cancer Treatments

Cancers We Treat

  • Cervical cancer

  • Ovarian cancer

  • Uterine (endometrial) cancer

  • Vulvar cancer

  • Pre-cancerous and high-risk lesions

Diagnostics & Risk Evaluation

  • Colposcopy of the cervix, vagina and vulva

  • Biopsies of the endometrium (uterus), cervix, vagina, vulva

  • Genetic counseling/tests (if family history or known risk factors)

  • Screening & early detection (PAPs, HPV testing, ultrasound/imaging)

  • High risk evaluation (for patients with hereditary risk, personal history)

 New Patient Consultation

  • Review of your medical history, imaging, and pathology reports

  • Complete history and physical exam

  • Discussion of your diagnosis and treatment options 

  • Development of a Personalized treatment plan that may include Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy & Radiation therapy

Surgical Treatments

  • Minimally invasive surgery (Robotic or laparoscopic)

  • Open radical surgery

  • Radical hysterectomy / Radical vulvectomy 

  • Lymph node assessment / Sentinel Lymph node mapping and dissection when appropriate, or pelvic, para-aortic lymphadenectomy and inguinal lymph node dissections

  • Optimal Debulking surgeries (especially for ovarian cancer)

  • Fertility-sparing surgeries 

Tumor Board Conferences at UF Flagler Hospital

  • We meet weekly with a multi-disciplinary team including: Gynecologic Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Radiology and Pathology

  • To customize a personalized treatment plan for the patient

Surveillance / Follow-Up Visits

 Recurrence Work-Up

  • For patients who have completed treatment

  • Monitoring for recurrence 

  • May include exam, labs, imaging, or review of symptoms

  • Focus on quality of life and integrative wellness (counseling on nutrition, exercise, yoga, breathwork, meditation)

  • Sexual Wellness

  • For patients with new or concerning symptoms, abnormal imaging, or lab findings.

  • Detailed evaluation with history, physical exam, and ordering of additional imaging or biopsies.

  • Goal is to confirm or rule out recurrence and tailor the next phase of treatment.

Complex Benign Gynecologic Conditions

  • Complex Ovarian cysts and pelvic masses 

  • Complex Uterine fibroids

  • Precancerous lesions of the cervix, vulva, or endometrium

Diagnostic Services

  • Comprehensive evaluation and pelvic exam

  • Biopsies when indicated

  • Referrals for Ultrasound, CT, MRI or PET-CT 

  • Pathology review when indicated

  • Risk assessment for cancer vs. benign disease

  • Post-surgical recovery monitoring

  • Traditional open surgery when needed

  • Fertility-sparing approaches (when appropriate)
